Distinctly French. Suave and Chic.

St Barths, or Saint Barthélemy rises from the ocean floor 19 miles (30km) southeast of our base in St Maarten. Although the island has a reputation as a playground for the rich and famous, you’ll find its treasures are open to all. Covering an area of just under 10 m² (25 km²), St Barths is surrounded by beautiful beaches with some amazing shallow reefs.

This tour is available as a Private Charter.

Please Note: Passports are Required on this Tour

(This is an International Trip that requires customs and immigration clearance between St Maarten and St Barths)

The Fun Stuff – What to Expect

Boarding begins at 8:15 a.m. at our pickup location, behind “Nowhere Special” Restaurant in Simpson Bay .  Our crew will transport your party on a quick dinghy ride out to our yacht, anchored in Simpson Bay.

On arrival at Enigma, you will be greeted by our friendly crew who will give you a brief introductory tour of your boat for the day, while you indulge in a light breakfast of bottomless coffee, French pastries, and other tasty tidbits.

After we complete boarding and a quick safety briefing, it’s time to set sail on our 19-mile (30km) transit across the Saint Barthélemy Channel. As we head south, we’ll pass by Great Bay, home to Phillipsburg and the St Maarten Cruise Ship Terminal. We’ll also cross over the Man-o-War Shoals, St Maarten’s Marine Nature Reserve, a haven for some amazing sea-life for those looking to get in some Scuba Diving while they’re visiting St Maarten – but, that’s for another day. Today we’re St Barths bound! Sit back, relax and enjoy the thrill of sailing across the open water.

On arrival at St Barths, our first stop is Gustavia, the capital and main port of entry. Your crew will handle the obligatory customs and immigration process with the local authorities. In the meantime, a crew member will escort you ashore for a laid-back sightseeing/shopping excursion on our way over to Shell Beach (Anse de Grands Galets). Explore this picture-perfect beach, swim, snorkel or relax and soak up the moment.

You’ll find your boat Enigma anchored just off-shore, where your crew is busy preparing a hearty lunch. At around 2 pm, it’s time for the short ride by dinghy, back to the boat. Your gourmet buffet-style lunch awaits. We use only the freshest of ingredients to prepare a delicious and generous culinary feast.  Our selection changes seasonally but typically includes Lobster Paella, Baked, Seasoned Mahi-Mahi, Beef Tenderloin, oven-roasted vegetables, and a variety of salads. Our Asian Chicken salad and our special potato salad are always in high demand.

After lunch, it’s time to weigh anchor and prepare for the passage back to St Maarten. Sit back, relax or mix and mingle, the choice is yours as we sail back across the open water.

We should arrive back in Simpson Bay at around 5:30 p.m. for fond farewells and the brief dinghy ride back to shore.

The Fine Print – Know Before You Go

Passports Are Required

Saint Barthélemy is a sovereign nation, independent of St Maarten.  We have no choice in the matter. When traveling to Saint Barthélemy from St Maarten, we must clear customs and immigration on the way out of St Maarten, and upon entering St Barths (and vice versa). The authorities do make it as easy as possible but we must still abide by the formalities.

We kindly request that you send us a copy of your passport at least 24 hours in advance of your departure, so that we may complete the required paperwork. Just a photo or scan will suffice. We will take care of the administrative work to do the appropriate clearance.

Unfortunately, there is a cost charged by the local authorities. As of Dec 1st, 2020, it is $USD30 per passenger. This fee is paid directly to the relevant authorities in St Maarten and Saint Barthélemy.  We absolutely do not ‘mark up’ the cost of immigration fees.

Dietary Requirements

Please let us know at least 24 hours in advance if you have any special dietary requirements. We will do our best to accommodate special requests with prior notice.

Accessibility

If you or any of your party have significant mobility issues or medical conditions, please contact us before booking. We are always willing to accommodate all guests and we will do what we can to assist. However, due to the nature of boating and the unpredictability of the seas, not all things are possible. We do regret that our boat is NOT rated as ‘Wheelchair Accessible’.

Please call ahead, if any of the above applies. We will do what we can to assist if we can.
